Fruity Rumtopf recipe idea

Ingredients:

approx. 0.7l Prinz Inländer Rum 60% vol

approx. 500g fresh fruits such as apricots, peaches, plums, cherries, currant, raspberries

approx. 250g sugar

Preserving jar or Rumtopf jar (stoneware, ceramic)


Simple to prepare:

Delightfully delicious and very easy to make at home! In order to have a rumtopf (or "rum pot") for the winter, you should quickly preserve the fruits after harvesting them. Use a large container, e.g. a jar with a capacity of one litre per 500g of fruit. The jar should allow you to check the rum level without opening it.

Wash the fruit carefully with warm water, drain and dab dry with kitchen paper. Fill up the bottom with strawberries. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and cover the sugared strawberries with Prinz Inländer Rum 60 % vol. Use the same process with cherries, peaches, currants, plums or raspberries.

Leave to infuse for about three months for maximum enjoyment. Store in a cool, dark place!

Important: The fruit must always be covered with rum, so you should check it weekly. You can press down any fruit that floats on top with a sterilised saucer.
