Hafele Gentian Brandy 45% vol

The strong flavour of an ancient medicinal plant

Spicy, earthy and typically bitter in taste – Hafele Gentian Brandy is a particularly aromatic speciality. The roots of the yellow gentian, a native of the Alps, have been used to make schnapps or brandy since the 16th century. Digging for the roots traditionally takes place in autumn; this is when they are finely chopped, fermented and then macerated for weeks before distillation begins.

In the traditional Hafele process, we distil the macerate at least twice. Only the heart, i.e. the best part of the distillate, is used to make our brandy. After several years of storage in stoneware containers, the distillate has enough time to develop its typical flavour – fresh and earthy on the nose, slightly tart and bitter on the palate with a long-lasting finish. A typical gentian delight, just as it should be!

Enjoyment recommendation: Enjoy Hafele Gentian Brandy at a temperature of between 11 and 15 °C in a Hafele Glass or a Prinz Schnapps Glass.
