The Hazelnut Schnapps from Austria

  • Speciality schnapps with roasted hazelnuts
  • Gently macerated and double distilled
  • Tastes particularly nutty when slightly chilled

Full nut flavour

This nutty delight with a pleasant 40 % vol is particularly popular. To achieve the intense flavour, we roast the shelled nuts, crush them, then macerate them in alcohol. The delicate flavours of the nuts are transferred to the alcohol during maceration, and we distil the result using a traditional fine distillation process.

Intensive roasted aromas

After a storage period of several years, we are left with an exceptional distillate that we use to produce our schnapps. The nose is compelling with intensive nutty and roasted aromas, and there is a distinctly strong nut flavour, which lingers in the finish and unfolds on the palate. If you want to intensify the flavour even more, add a whole hazelnut to the glass for an absolutely excellent taste.

If you like your flavours fruity, try our Williams Pear Schnapps with 40 % vol or the Apricot Schnapps – simply delicious!

Enjoyment recommendation

Enjoy Hazelnut Schnapps slightly chilled in a Prinz Schnapps Glass or Stamperle Glass at a temperature between 14 and 18 °C.
Serving tip that gives Hazelnut Schnapps a special zing
In Austria, we put a fresh hazelnut kernel in the glass before pouring the hazelnut schnapps. This gives it an extra hint of fresh nuttiness.

Background knowledge about the hazelnut

The hazelnut bush can grow five to six metres high. When harvesting the nuts, lay out cloths under the bush before shaking the branches – this makes collection much easier.
