The Rowanberry Schnapps from Austria
A schnapps made from the berries of the rowan tree has a rather idiosyncratic, yet nevertheless very popular, character. Before harvesting, the rowan berries have to freeze at least once in order to lose their otherwise very bitter taste. Once harvested, after several weeks of maceration, we distil the orange fruits into high-quality distillate – this is what we use to produce our Rowanberry Schnapps. Over several years in various storage containers, the schnapps is left to reach optimal maturity.
The tangy, slightly grassy flavour is mixed with a fine marzipan note. No wonder, then, that Prinz Rowanberry Schnapps is particularly popular as an aperitif.
Enjoyment recommendation: Enjoy Rowanberry Schnapps in a Schnapps Glass or a Stamperle Glass at a temperature of between 17 and 20 °C.
